Operations Associate Job Description
(Temporary)

Generations Incorporated is Boston’s host to Experience Corps, a national
movement to mobilize older adults. Our
older adult members serve as volunteer literacy tutors and mentors for students
in grades K-5 in the Boston Public Schools.
Over the last five years, we’ve grown from 40 to over 300 members. We will continue to grow as we are looking to
expand our programming to new communities.

This part time temporary position (15 hours per week
through June 2008 with possible extension) will be responsible for day to day office
operations. The Operations Associate
will be supervised by the Director of Finance and Administration. A good fit for this position will be someone
who is a well organized problem solver with good communication skills, has light
bookkeeping skills, and wants to make a difference working for a non-profit in
a sometimes hectic (but fun!) environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities

·
Accounts Payable – receiving and preparing invoices for payment

·
Accounts Receivable – creating invoices and recording deposits

·
Maintain and record office systems that ensure quality and
organizational excellence

·
Maintain office machines (e.g. copier, printer, fax, phones)

·
Work with receptionist to maintain quality vendor relations

·
Management of office supplies

·
Maintain finance and timesheet files

·
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Administration

Skills and Experience

·
Some college preferred, or equivalent position-related experience

·
Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize and stay focused

·
Quick learner, ability to work independently

·
Aptitude for details and accuracy

·
Willingness to learn accounting principles, experience with Quickbooks
Pro a plus

·
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills

·
Positive attitude, commitment to organizational mission

· Solid computer skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel; quick
learner of new computer software

Compensation
and Benefits

Compensation
is $15 per hour for 15 hours per week. Benefits
include a flexible work schedule in a supportive working environment. Monthly T-pass provided.
