Civic Engagement in Our Changing Milton
On October 22, 2006, 90 Milton civic leaders participated in a Leaders' Workshop to engage in honest, respectful discussions about real changes in our town; discuss how to make those changes work for everyone; discuss how to keep Milton a highly appealing place to reside; generate interest and ideas for beneficial and meaningful changes in Milton. They brainstormed over 200 action ideas. On November 29, 2006, a follow-up Public Forum was held at which four new Resident Task Forces emerged: "Welcome to Milton" Program; Dynamic, Enhanced Milton Website; Neighborhood Activities to Promote Interaction; Youth Program / Dialogue Around Teen Issues. SERV State Employees Responding as Volunteers Program
Under the SERV state employee volunteer program, eligible employees may take up to one paid day to volunteer at an approved non-profit organization in Massachusetts or in any of our 351 cities and towns in activities related to school volunteering, education, youth mentoring, environment, health, human services, and public safety. Food Drive for Food Pantry Consortium of lower Plymouth County
On December 8, from 9 to 1pm. 12 - 20 Volunteers will invite grocery store customers to fill a Warehouse grocery bag with suggested items for the Food Warehouse. As they shop, they will pick up the items they're purchaing for the Food Collection. After paying for the groceries, they will leave their Warehouse bag, filled with their donated items with the Collection Volunteers. This volunteer assignment provides a concrete way to spread the Holiday Spirit and help hungry people eat all winter long and on into spring!

This conference is the continuation of a 24-year annual conference previously known as the COOL Conference and more recently known as the Idealist Campus Conference. It's a 3-day gathering of student leaders, campus staff and faculty, and non-profit professionals interested in promoting and strengthening student involvement in community service, advocacy, and other forms of socil action. We have a long history of evaluating service-learning and civic engagement initiatives in k-12, colleges and universities and in community based settings. The Malden Community Vision - Your Voice, Our Future
The Malden Visioning Project is part of the on-going, proactive master planning activities of the Planning Board and Planning Department. Using a community-based planning process, we will create the Malden Vision, a concise statement of our community’s goals and guide for future planning and development. The Malden Vision will provide us with direction for additional updates to the zoning ordinance and areas for further study.
