Volunteerism
Volunteer, Massachusetts! Participants will gain a better understanding about trends in volunteerism, especially in Massachusetts, and will work together to develop strategies for how different stakeholders can partner more effectively to inspire a volunteer movement across the Commonwealth.
Business Partnerships
Business Partnerships Making a Difference. Here we’ll look at the many formal and informal ways that business executives have collaborated with community leaders on issues that have a direct impact on key areas such as economic and workforce development, housing and education.
Social Capital, Diverse Neighborhoods & Networks
Where Goes the Neighborhood? Social Capital in Today’s Communities. Social networking may be the rage, but local social ties have weakened over the past generation. This track will explore how neighborhoods and local relationships are changing, highlight effective practices, and share ideas on how to build bridges that span differences in increasingly diverse communities.
Politics and Policymaking
Demystifying Politics in Massachusetts: You Can Be a Player Too. This track will show you how to influence electoral campaigns and politicians to achieve meaningful and lasting policy change. We’ll look at everything from grassroots networking, to issue-focused campaign design and development.
Lifetime Citizenship through Education
Teaching the Student-Citizen: A Continuum of Civic Education and Engagement. Here educators and community leaders will explore how civic mindedness can be nurtured and developed across one’s lifetime of education through childhood to adulthood service-learning experiences. Mentorship and skills building are areas that will also be examined.
